"Turkey, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Rolls with real butter, Stuffing, Green Bean Casserole, Pumpkin Pie, Cheesecake, Chocolate Pie, etc. Is it any wonder that the average American consumes 7100 calories on Thanksgiving? Thankfully you can offset some of those calories by participating in Sherwood's annual Give n' Gobble 5K run/walk and 10K run on Thanksgiving at 9am @ the Sherwood High School stadium. The purpose of this event, besides being a great way to rev up your metabolism, is to raise money for Helping Hands, a local food bank affiliated with the Oregon Food Bank. To date, the Give n' Gobble has raised over $110,000 and 20 tons of food, feeding thousands of people since it's inception."
"Excellent event this year! A Thanksgiving staple ... The Give n' Gobble is such an amazing community event. The race truly consumes Sherwood. You are running through neighborhoods where the community greets you on their doorsteps as you run by. This is awesome! "-Kirby Davis, collegiate runner, #1 finisher '08 and '09

"I can't believe the way the Give n' Gobble brings the community together. This is a fantastic event. I was awe-struck watching the youth from our community loading the donations we collected and filling our green room from wall to wall with food. It was a sight to see. Prior to this event we were only able to give families non-perishable food, but now we can afford to give families milk, eggs, fresh fruit, and vegetables. The Give n' Gobble has allowed us to do so many things. Now with these resources we are even starting a Friday backpack program that so needy children could have enough food to get them through the weekend."~Gerry Eddy, Helping Hands Co-Director

"Thank you for what you gave to us. You gave us a wonderful family event that will be part of our holiday tradition. You gave the kids pride in their accomplishment that they are still talking about (my 12 year old kept checking your website to see when the times would be posted-it was cute). You gave hope to the people overcoming their pride to go to a food bank to give their family the essentials they need for their daily living. We were marveling over the fact that the race started on time given the increase in numbers over last year. The parking and logistics were easy. It was such an easy way to give and we got so much more than we gave. Thank you so much~Chrys Hutchings
